Local group reaches out to children of the Texas Youth Commission
(4/01/07 - KTRK/HOUSTON) - Allegations of abuse has a local group reaching out to children of the Texas Youth Commission.
The Millions More Movement Ministry of Justice hosted a town hall meeting in north Houston to discuss the dozens of abuse cases involving TYC. Some of them involve children from Harris County. Organizers tell us they want to be an advocate for those children.
"We want to reach to those who may have been molested because this is a humanitarian issue," said Deric Muhammad with the Millions More Movement. "That is my main concern and at the same time, we believe that a great part of their healing process will be justice."
The group has set up a hotline for those who may have been abused in the TYC. That number is 832-253-1111.
