Historical Discrepancies
By Doshon Farad- Washington,D.C Chapter
Ancient Greece is considered by many to be the Mother of Western Civilization. When discussing this, however, it is often over looked that Ancient Greece had a Mother as well known as Africa. Africa's contribution to World history has been re-written and virtually deleted by Western (European) Scholars for several centuries. These historical discrepancies have given birth to current racist ideologies held by most Europeans toward Africans (blacks) and other non-white people's.
During the Greek and Roman conquests of North Africa we find several instances of European conquerors looting and destroying our cultural artifacts. Here we will find tyrants such as Alexander the Great and his army looting and destroying the sacred texts that were contained in libraries built by our ancestors. Ironically, prior to the Greek invasion of Egypt we find the one's commonly known as the great "Greek philosophers"; Aristotle, Plato, Socrates, Hippocrates, Herodotus, Pythagoras, among others, studying at the feet of Black priests who taught students in the great "Mystery Schools".
Shortly after we witnessed the Roman rulers such as, Julius Caesar, Marcus Antonius (Mark Anthony) among others invading Egypt and like there Greek predecessors nearly erasing the history and culture of our ancestors.
During the 16th and 17th centuries with the advent of the horrific trans-atlantic slave trade, which originally was financially motivated, we see the introduction of the biblical "Curse of Ham" doctrine that taught that blacks were divinely cursed to be the permanent slaves of there white captives.
Many have suggested that the French ruler Napoleon was responsible for shooting the nose of off the Great Sphinx located in Egypt because he did not want it to be known that such a magnificent structure was built by Africans (blacks), the very people who most Europeans at that time felt were savages.
The concept of black inferiority has lead to an overwhelming belief that blacks virtually contributed nothing to the development of human history. This has been the main motivation behind white racism and negative stereotyping; that blacks are nothing more then virtual uncouth children who cannot survive without white interaction.
The misconstruing of African history has resulted in present day self-hating attitudes that exists among the masses of blacks across the World. Many of us see ourselves as having no part in the development of World civilization. Instead we see ourselves as being criminals, gang bangers, bs and hoes, among other negative things. And if we do see ourselves in a positive light, it is only as athletes, and entertainers.
While I see nothing wrong with excelling in the entertainment arena, I find it seriously disturbing that many of our youth cannot see themselves going beyond the sports and entertainment field. Where are our scientists, lawyers, and doctors? People who are actually responsible for maintaining our society at large.
How much do we really know about ourselves? How did we play in history's development birth and development? What exactly did our African ancestors accomplish and when? If Africans (blacks) were so savage, why did Europeans use them to build their countries? These are questions that black people should ask ourselves.
The majority of blacks and whites believe that the Ancient Egyptians were white and that the pyramids were built by extraterrestrials (Aliens and UFOs). It never occurs to us: A. Egypt is in Africa and that white folks would burn up in the middle of a hot dessert. B. If aliens built the pyramids, why didn't they stick around to show us how they did it?
It is for these reasons that blacks need to take the initiative and began to learn, re-master and write there own history. Rather than allowing others to do it for them. On every temple in Kemet (Egypt) we find the words, "Know Thy Self". The first step in liberation has always been Learning; the acquisition of knowledge.
Now one reading this article may feel that the things written here are redundant and outdated. I would disagree. I believe that it is time for people of African descent to begin redefining ourselves, our past, present, and future. I believe that this is quite necessary especially as we approach the anniversary of our mothers and fathers being brought as prisoners of war to the shores of Jamestown, Virginia.
We cannot expect or depend on our oppressors to tell the truth about our history. Or expect them to grant us liberation. At no time in history has an oppressor ever given the oppressed there own freedom. We are our own liberators. Freedom is taken not given !!! GOMAB
